In a world searching for hope and connection, it’s time we step forward and share the good news of Jesus Christ with our community, especially our neighbors. The call to evangelize is not just a mission but a heartfelt duty that brings light to those in darkness.

A few nights ago, something stirred me awake from my slumber, leaving me in a state of restless contemplation. Sleep played a hide-and-seek game, evading my grasp, and in that restlessness, a thought crossed my mind—a book, perhaps, to lull me back into slumber. That’s when I reached for Ellen White’s “Last Day Events,” a tome I’ve been exploring lately and one that never fails to captivate my attention. Allow me to share some musings and reflections from the first two chapters of this book. Looking back, I believe it was the Almighty’s nudge that prompted me to delve into these passages for a better understanding. Let me share some insights I gleaned from its first two chapters.

What does Ellen White bring to light about the unraveling of our world, particularly in these last days?

I have been shown that the Spirit of the Lord is being withdrawn from the earth. God's keeping power will soon be refused to all who continue to disregard His commandments. The reports of fraudulent transactions, murders, and crimes of every kind are coming to us daily. Iniquity is becoming so common a thing that it no longer shocks the senses as it once did.

Pause for a moment on the words highlighted in the quote. Does it strike a chord with you? Do these events feel familiar, especially within our Adventist community?

She then shines a beam on God’s stand amidst the chaos and sin within the once ordained community—a community intended as a Royal Priesthood and Holy Generation.

God has a purpose in permitting these calamities to occur. They are one of His means of calling men and women to their senses. By unusual workings through nature God will express to doubting human agencies that which He clearly reveals in His Word.

God allows these trials to reveal human failure. Instead of placing our trust in flawed beings to solve our problems or meet our spiritual needs, we’re urged to turn to our Creator. He alone can guide us through. Need proof? Let’s recall how the children of Israel were led to the promised land from Egypt.

Is God still in control?

In the great closing work we shall meet with perplexities that we know not how to deal with, but let us not forget that the three great Powers of heaven are working, that a divine hand is on the wheel, and that God will bring His purposes to pass.

Observe Ellen White’s clarity: not just the Father but the entire Trinity is in charge. Rest assured, God will fulfill His purpose. And what’s that purpose? It’s simple—amidst Earth’s final moments, God aims for universal salvation. His desire is that no one perishes, but that every soul hears the good news, the final warning, and finds salvation in the eternal Kingdom.

If you’ve journeyed this far, I’m deeply grateful. And now, the final thought, I have saved the best for last. In these trying days, many of us feel a need to act. Some of us place the responsibility on the Leadership, desiring change and purification of the system. Yes, it’s true—the Leadership is compromised, no longer spiritually guided. But does my desire to fix what God allowed align with His intentions? Am I taking on the role of “God”? Hear me out—I’m not suggesting we stand by injustice, but are we called to fix it? To put it plainly, we’re called to call sin by its right name, but are we called to fix it?

I saw an immense ball of fire fall among some beautiful mansions, causing their instant destruction. I heard someone say: “We knew that the judgments of God were coming upon the earth, but we did not know that they would come so soon.” Others, with agonized voices, said: “You knew! Why then did you not tell us? We did not know.”—Testimonies for the Church 9:28 (1909).

So, what truly is your calling in these last days? Rather than investing our energy in fixing issues, what does this passage encourage us to do? This quote has had a profound impact on me—a reality check of sorts, clarifying my calling. There are countless souls unaware of the imminent return of Jesus. Our calling? To spread this message. Wondering where to start? How about with your neighbor?

Read the quote again, Imagine your neighbor, living next door, unaware of the nearing arrival of Jesus, and then realizing you knew but didn’t share this urgent message. Our task isn’t to convince but to inform, leaving the rest to the Holy Spirit. Time is of the essence, my friend. If you haven’t noticed the warning signs around you, it’s time to get busy, starting with your neighbor. Spread the message—it’s time.
