Have you ever imagined or tried to understand the behind-the-scenes events that takes place when you say a prayer or keep persisting in your prayers to God? In this blog, insights are shared on what this looks like. The events of the children of Israel in slavery, as recorded in Exodus chapters 1 to 14, serve as the foundation for this explanation.
He sees, He hears, He knows
In Exodus 2:23-25, the children of Israel were in bondage and cried out to God. In Exodus 3:7, God affirms that He had seen their suffering and heard their cries because of their taskmasters. This reveals that as the omniscient and omnipresent God, He sees us even before we call on Him in prayer.
We can trust in this truth and stand on His promise in Jeremiah 33:3, confidently calling on Him in prayer, knowing that He hears us and is able to respond.
Planning, and Executing
In Exodus 3:8, God informs Moses, that he has come down to deliver the children of Israel. In Exodus 3:10, God continues this conversation with Moses, by inviting him to join him deliver the children of Israel, with an instruction for Moses to go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt.
In Exodus 3:10, God did not simply call Moses to confront Pharaoh alone—He was already there. This serves as a powerful reminder that whenever God provides a solution to deliver us from challenges, He has already gone ahead of us. We are never alone in the process.
Even when God sends others to help us, He first prepares the way, working through them to bring about His plans. If you have been called to serve someone or lead a group, take comfort in Isaiah 45:2, where God promises to go before you. Trust in His guidance and move forward with confidence.
Moreover, while the Children of Israel cried, God saw, heard and answered but the children of Israel did not know this, until Exodus 4:27-31. God called Aaron to meet Moses in the wilderness, and together, they narrated the events that Moses had with God in planning out their deliverance, to the children of Israel.
There may be times when you pray persistently, yet the answers seem delayed. However, just as in the case of the Children of Israel, God’s solutions often require preparation behind the scenes. His plan may involve aligning circumstances, preparing the hearts of those involved, and orchestrating events in His perfect timing. While this process unfolds, it may feel as though God has not yet responded—but He is always at work.
Hold on to the promise in Matthew 21:22: “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” Revisit Exodus 3 and 4, and notice how much time and persuasion it took for Moses to fully embrace God’s calling. Likewise, remain steadfast in prayer until you see the fulfillment of His promises. Be persistent, like the widow in Luke 18:1-8, but pray with faith, trusting in Isaiah 59:1—that God’s ear is not too dull to hear, nor His hand too short to save.
Ultimately, in Exodus 13, God delivers Israel from Egypt and remains with them on their journey. Then, in Exodus 14:1-4, 25, He reveals Himself to Pharaoh and the Egyptians in an undeniable way. Trust that in His perfect timing, God will make His power known in your situation as well.
